Wellness Wednesday: Apples

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away” may have more to it that we think. Apples are packed full of serious health benefits. According to Huffington Post, apples are rich in vitamin C. Because they are rich in fiber, they aid in weight loss. Antioxidants in apples are known to be great for heart health. They can even boost exercise endurance if you eat one before working out. Health Diaries claims that they protect your body against certain kinds of cancer.

They are so easy to squeeze into your diet. Winter is a perfect time to add apples to everything. With a little cinnamon they are great baked. They can also be added to your morning oatmeal. I found this healthy recipe that would be great to try. I hope that this sweet treat helps keep you well this winter!

Slice apples and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake at 275 degrees for 2 hours.
